When you make the decision to get a new computer, it’s important to remember one thing. The old computer has all your data on it! Once that data has been transferred and the old hard drive “erased” you are still not in the clear. That data is still accessible with certain types of software. My recommendation to remedy this issue is, pull the hard drive out and DESTROY IT! Use it as a target, take a hammer to it, whatever may strike your fancy; just don’t let someone else get your data. |

Have you cleaned your keyboard lately? “Germ counts on computer keyboards were more than 60 times higher, averaging 3,295 bacteria per square inch(http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/211020_putergerm07.html).” That equals approximately 94,000 bacteria per keyboard. Enough said, spray the Lysol on a cloth and clean that keyboard! |

Spyware is an irritating event with browsing the web. It can slow your computer down substantially, and broadcast information about your computer across the internet. I recommend that you perform a Spyware removal once a week. The two best programs that I use are Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware. These are free programs which can be downloaded and run by anybody.
Act now, don't let Spyware take hold of your PC!

How often should you “clean” your computer? That really depends on the environment the computer is in. As a general guideline, a complete cleaning should be done at least once a year. After you see how much grime can be accumulated in that time, you will probably decide to perform a cleaning more frequently. If the computer is used in a hot, dusty or moist environment, it is imperative that it’s done once every six weeks or so. To perform a complete cleaning, it is necessary to have some knowledge of the inner workings of the PC, if you do not; I recommend leaving it to the experts. However, a general maintenance cleaning can be done quickly and easily. |
