What does that Instant Messenger lingo mean? | Print |  E-mail
Many parents use parental control programs to find out what’s happening with your children online. But those programs can’t control what is happening in their Instant Messenging (IM) programs. Here is a brief break down of the IM lingo being used to help you decipher the true meaning of the conversation. WARNING: Some of this language is adult related.

cyber - cybersex, as in "go cyber" or "let's cyber"
53x - sex
ESAD - eat s*** and die
F2F, FTF - face to face, as in "let's meet F2F"
FOAD - f*** off and die
GP - go private, as in a one-on-one chat
H4U - hot for you
KOL - kiss on the lips
PM - private message, one-on-one chat
RL, IRL - in real life, as in "want to see you IRL"
pr0n - alternate spelling for porn, pornography
WTF - what the f***?

Of course, many of the acronyms are harmless. Here is clarification on just a few:

AFAIK - as far as I know
BTW - by the way
CUL - see you later
HHOK - ha ha only kidding
IANAL - I am not a lawyer
IIRC - if I remember correctly
IMHO - in my humble opinion
OMG - oh my god
OTOH - on the other hand
ROFL – rolling on the floor laughing
LOL – laugh out loud
